The BOYS of BARAKA

In the Boys of Baraka we followed 4 young boys from Baltimore go to Kenya Africa to attend school. How did the boys view themselves before they go to Africa? Did their perceptions change after they returned? How do you think the boys view of education changed from when the movie began to their return from Kenya? Is this a movie you can recommend ?

Boys of baraka is a film that shows kids growing up in maryland-Baltimore. These kids are doing bad in school and they get sent to africa to be schooled. They lived in Maryland and it was full of violence and drugs. The families showed a lot of support. They went through with it some picked the right choices some did not. There were some fights but they settled it, this movie is kind of ok but this is not always the truth its all about choices, there are some people tha live in slums and bad places make it out and do not let their environment affect them.

H The boys view themselves as tough, hardcore wannabe gangsters fighting everyone they encountered just because they said so. After the boys left for the Baraka School there personalities changed and they shifted. There perception of how things were and how people live their lives in baltimore were no longer valued as something to live up to. Their view of education shifted in which a way that education became the most important thing in their lives. This movie is one i would recommend because it shows how no matter where a person comes from they can still strive to be the best that they can be with out having to fall into criminal activities.

The boys of baraka is an excellent film that help young boys in baltimore have a second chance in being a better person. When the boys went to baraka, some where home sick, but some where really enjoying them self's. Giving the boys better education then in baltimore, some of the boys took that oppertunity very serious. At the very end of the documentary, some boys where still in school and some where doing nothing positive with there lifes. Some wanted to go to college and leave baltimore and start a new life.

Theses kids ever since they went to that program in baraka they changes there life style a lot. Most of them wanted to do good in school and do something for there life. This films its intersting on how the kids change there way of thinking.

i like the movie just because it show that ONE decision can change your life FOREVER and it can be as little as moving to africa to continue your education. For this one fact alone this movie will show people to try there best to make the best decisions in life.

p.s. Me starting martial arts when i was 10 years old changed my life because of the discipline it teaches, Im a better person with this, Im humble and strong!!!!

The movie isn't all of that interesting because they are going through the same thing e=me and every black person I know was going through at that age.The only options black men have is jail, dead, or education. It was cool to see those boys getting to go back to Africa. They were able to stay out of trouble while they were in Africa. The movie proved that there is a ghetto everywhere.

Boys of Baraka is a film that shows how kids grow up in a poor ghetto neighborhood in maryland Baltimore. Before the boys went to Africa they didn't take education seriously. They were very tough and they thought that they weren't very smart. After they returned from Africa their perception of themselves changed very much, they felt smarter and confident. The boys felt like they deserved a better education.
The boys felt like they needed an education to be successful in life but they also felt like they didn't have any opportunities in Baltimore. I would recommend this film to my friends so they could understand that we should take advantage of all the opportunities we get.

The movie The Boys of Baraka show how the kids live their lives in baltimore. Some of the kids in the movie they act like they dont care about an education, and they can do whatever they want, and others even though in the neighborhood they live, they really want to change the way they are acting, and do a better thing that can help them become better persons.

The way the boys was acting before they went to Africa they were out of control and they were not educating themselves and their parents and love-ones wanted a better environment for them. The choose to go because they wanted to get out the ghetto and maybe they can change and not end up in jail or don't finish high school . One good prospective was that not ending-up in jail and finishing high school and going to college.

I liked this movie because it relates to life in NYC. A lot of people live in bad neighborhoods and don't have money to pay for what they need. Some people choose to do the right thing and some people end up in jails, prostitution or doing drugs. These kids were given an opportunity to experience something outside of their original home. They got a chance to be schooled in Africa. Some of the boys ended of doing the right thing and some of them chose to leave.
